Childbirth Educator: Heather Paris,
ICCE As a mother of two children, I have experienced birth both in a hospital setting and in a freestanding birth center (the Greenhouse Birth Center). Both births were assisted by midwives, yet they were quite different. From these experiences as well as from other aspects of mothering, I was moved to help others with the transition into parenthood. I have professional relationships with local midwives, doulas and natural birth advocates. I practice attachment parenting and I am active in the Greenhouse Birth Center community. I was on the GBC advisory board for two years and a volunteer at the GBC prior, and recently helped as a postpartum doula immediately after births. I have endorsed the Ten Steps to Mother-Friendly Maternity Care as defined by CIMS (Coalition for Improving Maternity Services). I am certified through the International Childbirth Education Association and am a member of Lamaze, Capital Area BirthNetwork, La Leche League International, Lansing Babywearers, and MANA. |
